Common Ground Spiritual Fellowship

Book Circle

Common Ground Book Circle – Gulph Mills, PA

This is another context in which to build community and get to know and enjoy others with similar interests while simultaneously exploring and deepening our understanding of universal spiritual principles and discuss how we may apply them in our daily, practical lives.

BOOK THEMES:

  • Spirituality
  • Philosophy
  • Afterlife
  • Psychology
  • Social Justice
  • Personal Development
  • Global Consciousness

The Book Study/Circle will be taking a new direction by exploring our unconscious to cultivate a deeper self-knowledge and authenticity that brings us closer to who we really are.   In other words, cultivating our spirituality through our human psychology.

We will be focused on one particular book at a time in a more interactive, experiential way.  There will be suggested reading and exercises or activities.  The level of activities will depend on the dynamics of the group and will vary as our time permits.

This is a different  format and approach to the group as it previously existed.  Formerly, it didn’t matter whether you read the book or not – it was a very open intellectual discussion group that could have members come and  go without much interruption or discontinuity.

Because we will be taking less of an intellectual approach (talking about) and more of a “study” (applying/practicing) format, it will be more important that you DO read the suggested material and be willing to commit at some level to the activities and attendance.

A list of books will be presented to the group for selection.  The group can then decide together which book to choose from that list.

For those who are attending for the first time, feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Also please email or phone if you plan on attending.

For our first book and next upcoming date, June 25th, we will be starting with:

Romancing the Shadow
by By Connie Zweig, Ph.D. and Steve Wolf, Ph.D

For the next meeting,  read the chapter entitle   “Introduction to Shadow-Work” to get a feel for the topic. We will discuss and answer questions at our first gathering and we will also look ahead to a format for this book.  Each book will have a different calling.
