Today something happened that would have gone totally unacknowledged if I were not now blogging.
About mid-morning I noticed the tree trimmers sent out by PECO to clear branches from their wires were in front of my house. The tree across the street from me is just perfect, about 40-50 feet tall. I’m sure at least 4-5
cars parked end to end could be sheltered from the rain under this tree. I often watch birds flying in and out and from
branch to branch in that tree. It’s my focus when I practice the yoga tree pose and I watch it from my 2nd
floor terrace all year long as the seasons change.
Well, as you might imagine, my heart immediately opened to the tree and the workmen. I said a
little prayer that they would do a good job trimming. That they would take what
was needed for safety but did not mutilate or unnecessarily hurt this magnificent tree. The prayer led me to doing the yoga tree pose, drawing on the energies below from the earth and above from the heavens to stream a beam of light from my heart to the heart of the tree. This healing light slowly spread to every part of the tree and I began singing or more accurately intoning a sound of gratitude and love to the tree. By the time the trimmers began to actually cut, the tree was already fortified and by the time they finished, I was finished as well.
It was quite an experience and it took a minute to detach from the connection I had forged with the tree.
I felt like I’d been to church.

It reminded me of a land purchase I made years ago, to build a house on. The lots were wooded. I had many to choose from. Trees would have to be destroyed. I looked at nearly 50 available lots until I found one with a natural clearing. The clearing was the lowest level on the lot and seemed to be prone to flooding. I walked the lot and laid hands on all the big trees and asked them to keep my house from flooding. The area did get standing water during heavy rains however the house was never damaged. Did the trees help me. Who knows? I like to think they did. Perhaps they fasted until rains came and then feasted. GRIN
