Common Ground

Whatever the question, love is the answer...

On my main blog, I wrote out A Cosmic Speculation about The Purpose of Humans in Universe. I started with Buckminster Fuller's notion that we could be here to work "in support of the integrity of eternally regenerative Universe". I then launched into a scifi/fantasy story about Captain Brenda S______ from 5 billion years in the future describing sentient life's success in meeting cosmic design challenges starting with overcoming the Black Plague. Then Brenda describes how after meeting the challenges of managing our 2010-era issues with ecology, we eventually undertook solar system, galactic, and eventually cosmic-scale design activities. The fantasy suggests Humanity's purpose could be to support the integrity of cosmic evolution. My conclusion argues that indeed we should embrace this notion as a working hypothesis at minimum.

I'd love to discuss the idea with people here. But the full story is on my main blog at http://blog.cjfearnley.com/2010/11/19/a-cosmic-speculation-about-th...

Carol,
That sounds interesting. Certainly apropos to my blog post. Right now, I probably cannot make it. But I will try to open a possibility to attend.
