I read in one of Dr. Wayne Dyer's books, many years ago, that the letters in the word listen, when rearranged spells the word silent. It is true. So when truly listening, give yourself permission to be silent which is the word listen rearranged.
Many times a person seeks someone who will truly listen to them. Sure, you may be able to regurgitate back what the person said, but the real meaning of what was communicated is often missed. In order to receive the message intended from another, one must shut down the chatter all around them and become silent. Then we can listen and truly hear. What another person may be trying to say is not necessarily in the words that are spoken.
So the next time someone wants to speak with you from their heart, become silent and truly listen. The reward is always both to the giver and the receiver.
