Dear Friends:

Have you ever wanted to be a mid-wife whether you are a man or woman? I am inviting you to play an important role in helping birth my book The Bliss Mistress Guide To Transforming The Ordinary Into The Extraordinary. It will take a few minutes of your time and would mean the world to me:)

I have been writing this book for quite awhile and like many authors, have been dragging my feet a bit...life stuff getting in the way. My friend Jim Donovan, himself a published author, has said to me on more than one occasion: “When are you going to finish this book? It isn't doing anyone any good in your head.” Then an opportunity arose that along with Jim's loving kick in the tush, provided an additional incentive. James Twyman (The Moses Code) and Neale Donald Walsch (Conversations With God) and a team of authors have launched a contest called Next Top Spiritual Author. The winner of the contest will receive a publishing contract with Hampton Roads Publishing. When I first heard about this contest, my own 'conversation' began. I am offering you a window into my mind...look out...it can get kind of cluttered in there:)

It went like this “Could you really do this? Nah, there are so many other people who have better ideas than you do. How are you going to compete with people who have written and published other books? Who do you think you are?” Hands on hips, my warrior Goddess replied, “You have interviewed some of the most amazing people on the planet. You write stories that people have told you have moved them. You interviewed The Dalai Lama for heaven's sake.” When that happened two years ago, my initial reaction was, as I described, 'somewhere between holy shit abject terror and orgasmic bliss.' When in doubt, go for the orgasmic bliss. So, I took the leap and signed up.

Here's how the contest goes: I created a video pitch for the book with the Divine guidance of Bill and Karen DeHaven and my son Adam. Karen offered makeup and coaching and Bill was the videographer. My 22 year old son had amazing input to offer about his mom's 'hippie spiritual' book. Oh and I can't forget the four pawed inspiration; Bill and Karen's cat Idgie Threadgood who kept meandering in during production, holding forth with her opinion in meows and purrs. She was tenderly carried out by Bill each time, so there are no feline vocalizations on the tape.

The first step is that people view and vote on the video. The link is:

You will be asked to sign in and then vote. I ask that after you vote, PLEASE forward this message to people you know and ask them to vote. If you know me personally, please share briefly how we are connected. A personal request from you will entice them to vote and pass it on to their folks. You can post it on facebook, twitter, linkedin, my space...any social media you are part of. I will be doing the same.

The reason we are being asked to do this, is so that the publisher knows that any author they bring on board will have a 'platform' from which to promote the book and a network of contacts who will spread the word. The more people who vote for my book, the greater the likelihood that it will advance to the next round.

I have used my PR and Marketing mojo over the years to promote other people's products and services and now it's time for me to do that for myself. Many of my friends believe that I know (nearly) everyone on the planet. This will be a test of the accuracy of that observation. Please prove them right:)
