One of my best friends just recently passed away.
I am still in total shock of his passing. I found out on Thursday, Dec. 15th, in a text message. I was just waiting for him to get out of a rehab center. He was on his way to health, and he was embarrassed to have me see him the way he was,…

True Self Esteem
I learn, grow and receive guidance and correction from just about every interaction I have with other beings. It is possible to get to a state of awareness that this constantly occurs. This is not a destination. It is a journey that continues to improve and reinforce daily. In this article, I will outline some of the greatest hurdles I had to jump to get to a state of mind where this began.
The process that brought me to this state of…

Occupy Philadelphia, in fact the occupy movements throughout the country could use
some help right now. It’s a special kind of help that people of faith alone can give.
I know people of many faiths who practice their beliefs and believe in
prayer. I call on all of you now to pray for peaceful resolutions to the situation many of the Occupy movements are
experiencing.
It’s obvious to me that since they (the Occupy movements)
were not going away…

I once took my daughter to see a kid's movie called "Surf's Up". In the film one of the characters would turn around on his surf board and bow in gratitude to the wave. This is how life is for me. There are a multitude of challenges that come my way. As each one builds up from the great beyond and comes to view I have a choice. I can paddle out and and ride, sit on the shore and…

Today something happened that would have gone totally unacknowledged if I were not now blogging.
About mid-morning I noticed the tree trimmers sent out by PECO to clear branches from their wires were in front of my house. The tree across the street from me is just perfect, about 40-50 feet tall. I’m sure at least 4-5
cars parked end to end could be sheltered from the rain under this tree. I often…

This is a copy of an essay I wrote almost a dozen years ago for a writing class I took at Penn. Remember where you see dates, I didn't update anything, I just re-copied it.

Greetings,
ContinueToday I start blogging. I titled this Here We Go because I don't feel as though I'm alone on this journey. I do however live alone and sometimes things come to me that I find not just interesting but helpful in living everyday in a healthy spiritual way. Sometimes I share with friends who seem interested in the topics that come up but often these things come at times when it's not practical, possible,…

“The blue heron is a totem (symbol) of someone who has chosen to claim their life as their own. According to North American Native tradition, the Blue Heron brings messages of self-determination and self-reliance. It represents an ability to progress and evolve. The long thin legs of the heron reflect that even though we must be able to stand on our own, we don’t need legs that are great massive pillars to remain stable.
Blue Herons have the innate wisdom of being…

Hi everyone,
Today was a startling day for many as the combination earthquake/tsunami tore the fabric of Japan and touched the lives of people around the world. Being in Santa Cruz right now, I stood at the cliffs and watched the amazing enormous waves, a reminder of what occurred just this morning. The power of those waves, crashing against the cliffs, at once powerful and beautiful, brought with them the energy of the tragedies that occurred overseas. I closed my eyes…

A bridge has been made. For years we have explored the depths of hearts. We dug deep into our souls. What about our minds? This past Sunday a bridge was made. An opening into the labrynth. With further exploration into our minds and connecting into our hearts we can truely become a powerful force for God.
Much Blessings upon all
Stand tall
Hear the call
Wisdom is here
Sit and stare
Into inner space
Face your soul
And…

I have always heard the expression "tree hugger" used in a connotation that was less than flattering. While hiking today I stopped my a creek to pray. As I prayed I placed my hand on the tree next to me and focused on the energy coming from it's roots. I got a message of sadness from the earth. The earth was weeping. As tears filled my eyes the wind began to blow and the snow fell from the trees in a moment of synchronicity. I prayed for the healing of the planet and began to sing. As…

I’m very pleased to announce the start of weekly Writing for Wellness circles at the Swarthmore Healing Center beginning in January. These circles will provide opportunities for creativity and unburdening, a place to play with words and time to open our hearts onto the page.
Building on the past eight years of group facilitation experience and my Masters in Transformative Language Arts, I hope that…

Every year during at this time, a large percentage of the world around me turns to chaos. Merriment turns to anger as as desires overtake the threads that hold us human. In an expression of love many go out of their way to display the worst of themselves while attempting to purchase that fabricated item that says "I love you."
I don't need to go over the wrongs or the rights of it all. It is what it has become. I invite us as a community to pray and hold a light for all the…

Loving flows that we all know entice the memories that dance in the snow
The drift that is a gift gives way to the day and rises up to meet us along the way
Stepping into this we gather all strenghth an sing a song that goes on all day long
That echoes through our hearts and into our minds and chimes with angels for a time
We are so blessed and yes we do invest in each other my sister my brother
Our prayers and spirit will be power that lights the world…
