About Me
The 70's energy crises brought me North again and I became a Paramedic. After graduating I founded the Abington Citizens EMS Advisory Council which successfully worked to establish the use of advanced life-support in the Township.

I moved to Connecticut in 1976 and was active with EMT's of Connecticut, a chapter of the NAEMT. I was editor of EMT News, Chapter VP , was on the Southwestern Connecticut EMS Advisor Council.

I'm a shifter of Paradigms, a holarchic thinker, a sailor, a friend of dolphins, an artist, a writer, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a Green, and a full-time sustainability advocate.

I have two children, Brandon and Leigh David, two grandchildren (Elizabeth Ann and Jade) and a great-grandaughter who I've yet to meet. I have three ex-wives, one deceased. I am married to an extraordinary woman, Jacqueline, an astrologer and a recent graduate of Kepler College. We have known each other for much of our adult lives and have been happily married for many years.

I'm a second decan Taurus, with my moon in Sagittarius, and Scorpio rising. I was born in Philadelphia in the year of the rabbit.

I went to Central High School, Temple University Pharmacy School for a year, and for three years, The Philadelphia Museum School of Art (now the University of the Arts).

I was a regular at the Gilded Cage hootenannies, designed the poster for the first Philadelphia Folk Festival and volunteered with the PFF a lot over the years. I joined the Merchant marines in the mid-sixties, served with the USMM in Vietnam in 1967.

I ran a charter fishing boat on Delaware Bay, lived on and worked a charter sailboat for 4 years in Florida. I directed and coordinated a multinational search for the missing Saba Bank, a 56' power yacht lost at sea. I raced in the SORC and other races.

I continued to teach sailing, started a towing & salvage service, and became a boating safety consultant. I fell in love again while working in Erwinna.

I wrote environmental articles for the counter-culture press.

I'm a graduate of The Monroe Institute.

I've been a friend of Bill and Lois since 1988. I've been active with the Mankind Project. I'm on the DVRPC, DVGBC, the Warminster EAC, and the ECLA PA.

We live in Bucks County with our cat and work to make our home and life sustainable. We heat with corn, have a big superwindow in the livingroom. I'm a trained energy auditor. I've sealed most of the air leaks in the house, put more insulation in the attic, caulked and foamed every crack and crevasse visible. We've been insulating from the inside in, installed rigid plastic on the inside of the windows, and have a lot of work left.

I try to be the change I want to see in the world. I believe that the most important work in these extraordinary, historic times, is to learn to live as lightly as possible on Gaia, our mothership. I've had some successes in cutting my carbon footprint and help others to do the same. I will share what I've learned with anyone who asks.

Yes, these are extraordinary, dangerous times. But there's also great opportunity. The good news is that in an age of increasingly expensive energy and an increasingly fragile biosphere almost everything we do to lower our carbon footprint will save us money. But you don't need me to discover "Money as Debt" or to take "The Crash Course".

I see this as holy work and enjoy the company of fellow travelers at Common Ground. More than any other spiritual community I've found or heard from, Common Ground seeks, it strives, to walk their talk. They are uncommonly interfaith, diverse in color, age, class, education, and background. The band, the choir, and the soloists make music you could die for; but I've come to live for it .

I look forward to seeing you there soon, again and again. You can start learning right now about how to begin living lightly. Just type "www.the Story of Stuff.com and watch a short, smart, and funny video. Be prepared to be changed, one way or the other.

Are we living a life consistent with the historic challenges now faced by humanity? Are we bailing yet?

Albert Einstein once said that since the splitting of the atom everything has changed except for the way we think, and thus humanity drifts towards catastrophe. As a sustainability advocate who keeps up with the cutting edge of environmental research and energy issues, I know how close we Earthlings are to catastrophe. It often makes me uncomfortable enough to act in adaptive ways and be a model of sustainable living. I'm making progress at the latter.

I used to be a licensed yacht captain. I f… Continue

Larry, would love to talk more about it, unfortnatelly will not be abe to attend Aug. 1st meeting, will be at the shore for few days. I am sure that there will be other chances to continue this very imprtant topic.
I was born in former Yugoslavia now Croatia, lived in Rome five years, graduated from University of Zagreb in Philosophy and Art History. I came here from Rome in early 60ies and pritty quickly embrace the social movement..it was not difficult coming from Socialist upbringing and a father who gave his life for the 'freedom and sociall justice'.

l am telling this so you can understand that the socio - cultural influences did not efected me as much as if I were raised in the west, or may be I think so.
I would like however to challenge myself and am looking forward to the discussion.
Please forgive the spelling, do not have the time to check the dictionary.

Larry, I do not 'habitually think' rather try not to get cought in any thinking that is set, static and not wide open to challange and change. It seems that the more I think I know the less I know and I feel confortable dwelling in this unknowable and unmanifested realm.

Larry, how far would I go to tranform my consciousness? All the way to enlightment, there is no another way because otherwise you are subtituting a new way of thinking for an old one and therefore remain in the cycle of suffering....

Indeed I have tried to change the way I think...it's a struggle. Whenever I get cought in self doubting thoughts, evaluation or judgment I ask myself 'is that true?"of cours the answer is always ..it is not.
But I prefer not to think when I do not need to which is hard, I tried to be in a state of alert attention and presence. When the incessant thoughts start to take over I just reapeat to myself 'here and now' which brings me back to 'no thought' total presence and a state of acute alertness where I prefer to dwell.
I am not sure that your question was about 'no thought' but changing the way we habitually think and the way it shapes our belief pattern? That would be all together a different discussion for another time.
All is well in the Universe

Carpooling is a possibility. I haven't been to CG in a while, but maybe next Sunday is a possibility.

Larry; I read your personal info and I relate to you on many levels. If you read about me, you will know why. Step by step, "Pachamama" helps me to stay balanced in my life and teaches me to open my heart to friends, fellows and sisters for shared work and service, hand and hand, as we stroll along this path. Peace-Out!, Steven

Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention....you said you designed the poster for the first Philly Folk Fest.....back in 1966 or so, I had a part-time secretarial job at Crawdaddy, the music magazine started in Philly. It was a rockin' summer and boy, did I learn a lot!

Also went to Phila. Museum College of Art on Saturday mornings throughout high school
(in the 60s) for drawing and painting lessons. First started dressing in black and drinking
black coffee. The coffee is gone but the black remains! Let's hear a cheer for hipsters,
beatniks, hippies, et al!
