Hi Carolyn,

One of my favorite movies is on TV tonight... You guessed it! "Happy Feet". It is a charming tale of accepting and appreciating the differences in everyone. It is on ABC @ 8:00PM. I wanted you to know so your little one can watch it with you.

Hi Carolyn
The list of films already viewed is quite a great list. Thanks for posting it.
One film that comes to mind right away to recommend is one of my top 10 favorites. Orlando. You've probably seen it. It covers 2 provocative topics: physical immortality and gender change in very unusual ways. The cinematography is rapturously compelling, for me anyway. Someone else may find it boring, depending on whether they like cinematography or not. The character is really relatable and it stirs up much to think about and discuss.
The next 2 films both have deep story lines and may not fit your description requrement of "hopeful" but they are also on my top 10 so I'll add them here. They are also rather dated at least 20 years or more. #1. The Man Who Fell to Earth #2. The Sheltering Sky. Both speak to me of alienation with such a beautiful way of conveying the feeling. It is what art is at it's finest. And certainly again worthy of discussion and very thought provoking.
Thanks for all you do!
Hey Janet--I love Happy Feet. Thanks for the reminder.-CP
Thanks Irene. I too was very moved by "The Sheltering Sky" and I think it offers a lot of spiritual reflections. You'll probably love this month's film, "Bab'a Aziz," about which I'm posting a review and announcement tomorrow. It is set in the desert and is a Sufi fairytale of sorts. "The Man Who Fell to Earth" is a great idea, haven't seen it in ages...I'll check it out again and see what I think now. I've never see "Orlando" but I would like to, have heard great things and I've been a Tilda Swinton fan for many years. Great suggestions!! Also, loved your commments in discussion on "Milk" last month, thanks.
Have you seen FLOW (For the Love Of Water)? It's well made, excellent visually, and pretty moving for an enviro movie.
(tried to se what you've already seen but every time I click it disappears!)
