~ An expansive choral setting of the poetry of Walt Whitman ~
The student soloists are amazing!
Vaughan Williams was one of the most skillful composers for the human voice, both solo and choral, and this is considered to be one of his crowning masterworks. The music is full of sweeping melodies, a brilliant orchestration, and moments of great serenity. Even though it is called a “symphony,” the chorus sings settings of texts by the American poet Walt Whitman from beginning to end.
Free and open to the public.
