Seeing IS Believing: James Balog's time-lapse photography reveals how quickly glaciers are melting around the world.
On April 9th, James Balog's Extreme Ice Survey, an unprecedented experiment in time-lapse photography, will open the third year of Second Friday video discussions on sustainability and the environment from the Warminster Township Environmental Advisory Council.
According to Balog, "Ice is the canary in the global coal mine". Although current scientific models project a one-meter sea-level rise in this century, how do you figure out what is going on inside a gigantic wall of ice? Sponsored by National Geographic, acclaimed photographer James Balog did a three-year survey of key places in the frozen parts of the planet.
Using time-lapse photography with cameras installed in risky, remote locations around the world, Balog recorded a stunning documentary. What’s really going on where rising global temperatures are highest, and thermometers are lowest?
The discussion will be moderated by The Warminster EAC's Larry Menkes
The event is FREE.
