Come experience rebirth and activation - a guided journey of the heart.
This month we begin experimenting with our new format. Through a continuous flow of music, movement, meditation and inspirational speaking, we journey together from the joy of inter-connection, down into the deep reservoir within, and then into collective celebration. The rebirth and activation takes place within each of us, and in Common Ground as a community, as we experiment and co-create together.
As a marker of the coming shift to a more participatory and primal flow, we are bringing the meditation in a more concentrated form right into the heart of the gathering. Until now the meditation took place as a separate event from 3:00 - 3:20. Now that time slot will set the tone with instrumental music as we all gather, connect, and ready ourselves for the journey to come.
The Program
Stephen "Katriel" Wise: Insight Speaker and Featured Artist: Katriel has been called a shaman, healer, sage, wise man and more through the beautiful noise his music makes. He humbly states, “I am in service to humanity through my music.” Wise is a multi-dimensional, multi-instrumental artist and performer, playing various flutes, saxophones and keyboards as well as aboriginal didgeridoos, conch shells and Native American/African drums. As vocalist, songwriter, producer and metaphysician, Katriel manifests light and love through universal musical inspiration.
Rhetta Morgan: Featured Artist: Like musical dessert, Rhetta Morgan sings rich, sweet, memorable songs. Weaving strands of Jazz, Folk, African and African American music, she sings of a world community that celebrates cultural and spiritual diversity. Rhetta writes and arranges songs of profound expression connecting her voice with the listener's heart.
Rhetta studied classical vocal performance at the prestigious Peabody Conservatory of Music. As soloist with the Lady Chapel Singers, she has toured England, Germany and Italy and is arranger, soloist and advisor on their internationally acclaimed CD. In addition to singing, Rhetta also plays piano, percussion and mandolin.
Fellowship
Following the main program, there will be our usual community fellowship hour from 5:15 PM to 6:15 PM with a delicious light vegetarian dinner available for purchase from Spirit Foods.
Kids
Remember that we now offer a children’s program for 5-12 year olds. It's more than daycare, and it's universal -- not from any one particular religious tradition. The primary text of the program is “The Family Virtues Guide”, covering 52 virtues (such as courage, honesty, hope, and love) geared towards kids and families. The cost is $10 per family, payable at the beginning of each program. Scholarships are available.
