Join us as we journey into the question of what it means to serve. Beyond, or perhaps before, our commitment to volunteer and engage in acts of charity, how are we being of service in life’s everyday moments? When we come from our hearts and not our heads, when we move in joy or choose forgiveness, when we embrace our challenges with equanimity or honor the perfection in what confronts us — these are all examples of serving a higher ideal, of setting an intention for ourselves that then benefits those around us, and fuels those larger acts of benevolence and goodwill that impact our communities and the world.

Our Insight speaker for this month is Rev. Jill Carel, the founding minister of Agape Interfaith Ministries in Philadelphia. She holds a B.S. in Psychology, was licensed as a Religious Science Practitioner and is certified in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Rev. Carel facilitates “A Course in Miracles” study groups in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and has been publishing the Self-Empowerment newsletter since 1993.

Our musical inspiration will be provided by Elaine Silver, a celebrated metaphysical folk-pop artist whose crystalline vocals and heart-opening lyrics affirm our deepest longings for a life of love, joy and peace. Whether performing a cappella or accompanying herself on guitar and banjo, “Faerie Elaine” brings a blessing to every performance, sharing her music with emotion and authenticity. She is the recipient of a Garden State Music Award for Outstanding Folk Performer, and has appeared in concert with such folk luminaries as Arlo Guthrie, Doc Watson, Tom Paxton and Suzanne Vega. She often teams up with best-selling author Alan Cohen as a musical accompanist for his workshops and special events, and has also worked with spiritual visionaries such as Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer,Marianne Williamson and Neale Donald Walsch.
