Set against the backdrop of the second World War, "Islands in the Stream" tells the story of sculptor Thomas Hudson (George C. Scott in a terrific performance) who has escaped to the Bahamas in hopes of isolating himself from the world. The world still finds him in the form of the storm clouds of war and the visit of his sons from his two marriages. Hudson tries to reconnect with his young sons, particularly his angry middle boy. The late David Hemmings is wonderful as Eddy, an alcoholic British ex-pat who works for Hudson and is his closest friend. The veteran and young cast do a terrific job with the economical screenplay based on Ernest Hemingway's posthumously published novel. --Jefferson Packer, Amazon
This epic film has an amazing “mood,” lots of beautiful water scenes, and an epic adventure quality, reviewing the meaning of a man’s lifetime. Recommended by our own David Gray, come enjoy the adventure and find out why it’s one of David’s favorite flix.
