Film Circle this Friday: I've Loved You So Long

Juliette, (Kristin Scott Thomas in a beautifully calibrated performance) returns from prison after 15 years to live, reluctantly with her sister Lea’s (Elsa Zilberstein) family. As the nature of her crime unfolds in the film, we see Juliette’s painful struggle to just exist, while trying to get back into a rhythm of life. Juliette is surrounded by family and new friends, but we see her taking her first sips of life’s-offerings-after prison in a tentative manner; whether it be her sister’s insistent love for her, the charms of her sister’s children, music, overtures from colleagues, lovemaking, work life or social gatherings; it is not easy. Memories haunt and tease her present day experience and she rides the waves with alternating irritation and grace.

The film has a lot to say about how we treat our “undesirables;” how our prejudices inform our comments and inquiries; how healing may or may not happen…with or without love and hope; how life unfolds mysteriously.

After crossing Township Line Road (Route 1), right on Darby Rd
When Darby Road splits, take left fork.
Cross Eagle Road to Oakmont Public Parking Lot on right.
Parking Lot is directly behind PMC.
Entrance to PMC is on East Eagle Road.

From Delaware:
Take I-95 north to I-476.
Take I-476 north to exit 9 (West Chester Pike).
Turn right (east) onto West Chester Pike (Route 3).
Immediately move to left lane. Turn left at next traffic light (Lawrence Road).
Follow Lawrence Road to Eagle Road. Turn left onto Eagle Road..
Follow Eagle Road to Darby Road.
Turn left onto Darby Road and then right into the Oakmont Public Parking Lot.
Parking Lot is directly behind PMC.
Entrance to PMC is on East Eagle Road.

From King of Prussia and North:
Take Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) south to Blue Route (I-476) south.
Take I-476 to exit 9 (West Chester Pike).
Turn left (east) onto West Chester Pike (Route 3).
Move to left lane and turn left at next traffic light (Lawrence Road).
Follow Lawrence Road to Eagle Road. Turn left onto Eagle Road.
Follow Eagle Road to Darby Road.
Turn left onto Darby Road and then right into Oakmont Public Parking Lot.
Parking Lot is directly behind PMC.
