Exploring Joining the Common Ground 2010 Board

Do you feel called to help steward Common Ground through the next stage of its evolution? If so, there are important volunteer opportunities now available for you.

The 2009 board is in the process of selecting the 2010 board. We will be holding an open house to connect with those who are called to serve. In true Common Ground style, this open house will be both informational and a beautiful ritual. The left brain and the right brain will find “common ground” in the process of selecting a new board for the coming year.

There is much exciting work to do this coming year. The board will soon consider and potentially act on such important matters as:
• Affiliating with Agape International Spiritual Fellowship (www.agapelive.org)
• Adding gatherings on other weeks of the month
• Raising the funds to hire a spiritual director

We are looking to fill a smaller number of immediate openings on and to elect the new board, and also looking to make connections with people who would consider serving in the future on the committees that will emerge as the new board begins implementing its 2010 plan. For the immediate board openings we are especially looking for some specifics skills, but are open as always to what surprises Spirit has in store:
• Developing abundant funds (Fund Development chair)
• Developing a budget and monthly financial reports (and check writing) – 4 hrs/month (Treasurer)
• Documenting meetings and organizing records (Secretary)

The current board has 5 members and meets face-to-face monthly. Board members normally also serve on a committee. Three of the existing members are leaving, and all officers will be selected by the newly elected board members.

If any of this speaks to you, please consider yourself invited to our meeting / ritual. If you know anybody whose name comes to mind, invite them or better yet, bring them with you! We’re meeting Sunday, January 10th, 3:00 – 5:30pm. Please come at 2pm to socialize. This is intended to be an exploratory process and your attendance would not represent a commitment on your part or Common Ground’s part for you to serve in any particular role.
