Mindfulness can teach us how to get free from the negative impact of critical self-talk. Many of us live with a loud and harsh inner critic that runs on automatic. It thwarts spontaneity, limits freedom of expression, creates persistent fear, and keeps us feeling guilty and inadequate. Outdated belief systems combined with emotional hold us in its grip.
This workshop will fortify your sense of resilience and build new skills for countering negative self-talk. With mindful awareness of the critic's presence, and its original protective intention, we will teach you strategies to retrain your brain to think in terms of positive self-support rather than the habituated patterns of self-denigration.
Join us to:
* Understand how and why your inner critic became so powerful
* Learn mindfulness strategies to counter the critic's voice and strengthen a constructive inner coaching voice
* Practice effective techniques for constructive "self talk"
* Explore revelations from neuroscience about how to get free from self-sabotaging brain patterns
Through guided meditations, experiential exercises and interactive demonstrations, you will reach into the depth of your soul, open your heart, and uncover a nonjudgmental, compassionate inner voice. You will transform your relationship with yourself and return home inspired and empowered to take steps for successfully moving beyond your inner critic.
This workshop is designed for the general public. PSCSW offers CE credits for participants who are Pennsylvania social workers.
